Snowman Thematic Unit

I was working with my 4 yr old and he was having trouble confusing the letter C and Letter S. So to help with that, I created a winter unit on Snowmen to help with the the letter S.

Click here  for Teachers Pay Teachers  OR  here for Teachers Notebook.

The main skills I was doing with this unit were:
Letter S, #6, hexagon - plus all the other skills for a preschooler or early kindergartener.

Below are some of the things we were doing that were NOT printables.

The science teacher in me HAD to do the borax crystallized snowflakes with them. I didn't measure anything out. I boiled hot water in the jars and then kept spooning the borax.

Christmas Plates

I'm SOOO mad at myself. Each year I take my boys' handprints and/or footprints and make myself Christmas dishes. (I've always wanted to buy a set, but I opted for making them. So much cuter!!). Any here is was January and I was putting away the random odd dishes when I ran across my Christmas dishes. UGH!! I missed using them all December.
I quickly grabbed my boys, wiped off their feet and went to work. This year I made a platter with both their prints instead of individuals. In hindsight, I probably should have started with salad plates when they were young then worked up to bigger plates as they grew.

Here is my collection of what we have made over the years.

2010

2011 I'm not a huge fan of this tree one.  :(

2012

2013

Supplies:
*White plates (a couple bucks at Walmart) 2012 was a white Corell Plate. I couldn't find the ones I used to buy. Sigh!
* Oven
* Porcelaine 150 paint by Pebeo (bottles and/or paint pens). These run about $5-6 each. Use your Michael's coupon.

Directions:
1. Paint design
2. Let dry 24 hours.
3. Bake in oven 35 mins at 300 degrees F.

I've used mine in the dishwasher. The smudgy writing is to protect my kids, not that the paint came off.  FYI.
